Invert Gymnastics, based in South Birmingham, made a major mark at a recent regional gymnastics competition held at Fenton Manor in Stoke-on-Trent on Sunday 16th March.
The talented young ladies brought home an impressive 12 medals and the prestigious George Finney Trophy for beginner girls from the George Finney Floor and Vault Championship 2025.
Competing against 15 other British Gymnastics registered clubs from across the West Midlands, 15 girls from Invert Gymnastics, aged Under 9 to Under 15, showcased talent, determination, and team spirit in what was, for many, their first taste of competitive gymnastics.The standout results included:
Under 9 Beginner Girls:

🥇 Individual – 1st place
🏅 Individual – 4th place
Under 11 Beginner Girls:
🏅 Team – 4th place
🥈 Individual – 2nd place

Under 13 Beginner Girls:
🥇 Individual – 1st place
🥉 Individual – 3rd place
Under 15 Beginner Girls:
🥇 Individual – 1st place
🥈 Individual – 2nd place
🥉 Individual – 3rd place
With gymnasts hailing from South Birmingham and Bromsgrove, the squad’s efforts were rewarded not only with medals but also the George Finney Trophy, awarded to the team with the top 10 scores throughout the entire day – a major achievement and great reward for the committed youngsters.
Beth Smith, Head Coach of Invert Gymnastics, praised the team’s incredible showing:“I couldn’t be prouder of the gymnasts. Every one of them did their absolute best and should be delighted with their performance. This was our first time entering this competition and for many of the girls it was their first time competing, so to walk away with twelve medals and the George Finney Trophy is amazing! Our whole ethos is about enjoyment and performance our gymnasts’ hard work paid off”
Invert Gymnastics continues to build a reputation for nurturing young talent through a supportive and inclusive coaching approach. With recreational classes for all abilities, the club is fast becoming a local hub for budding gymnasts across South Birmingham and surrounding areas.
Erin Judd, an under 15 gymnast, relished the experience: “I felt over the moon, it was great to get out there and show everyone what Invert is about. I’m so proud of my friends and myself for our achievments. It was such a fun day and experience competing against so many clubs. I can’t wait for the next one!”
Invert Gymnastics is based in Selly Oak, Birmingham and meets on Monday evenings and Sundays. Gymnasts come from the south Birmingham region and Bromsgrove areas to participate with us. Trial sessions are free and we welcome all abilities to our inclusive lessons.
