Mortons Funeral Directors warmly invite the local community to remember their loved ones by writing memorial stars and placing them on the Tree of Light at their Northfield office on Wednesday, 27th November, between 5pm and 8pm.
This special event is part of Mortons’ annual online Tree of Light Memorial Service, a cherished tradition that allows families to honour the memories of those they have loved and lost. The service, featuring heartfelt readings, carols, and reflections, is open to all and not limited to those Mortons has provided funerals for in the past. The virtual memorial service will be available on their website, mortonstreeoflight.co.uk, from Sunday, 8th December.
Preview of this year’s Tree of Light Service:
Sarah Case, the managing director of Mortons Funeral Directors, said: “Christmas can be a difficult time for anyone who has experienced loss, no matter how much time has passed. Our hope is that the Tree of Light Memorial Service provides comfort and a moment of reflection for everyone in our community.
“This year, we are especially honoured to invite people to join us in person to write and place their own stars on the tree. We welcome people to write as many stars as they want, as we know there may be several loved ones they would like to honour and remember during Christmas time.”
For those unable to write a star in person, memorial stars can be submitted online at mortonstreeoflight.co.uk, after which each message is carefully handwritten by a member of the Mortons team before being placed on the tree.
Last year, the Tree of Light received over 1,500 memorial stars. While there is no charge to place a star, Mortons provides a link to their chosen charity, the Motor Neurone Disease Association, and will also make a contribution to the Salvation Army – Droitwich Corps as a token of gratitude for their support. Over the last 16 years, the Memorial Service has raised over £16,000 for charity.
