Visitors to an annual heritage open day will have the chance to tour Cadbury’s treasure trove of archives as they open to the public for the first time.
Cadbury, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year, will open its newly refurbished archives as part of Bournville Heritage Open Day on 14th September.
The day, which is part of Heritage Open Days and Birmingham Heritage Week, will see 17 wonderful historic venues across Bournville throw open their doors to visitors.
These include Selly Manor Museum, Cadbury Concert Hall, Ruskin Hall, Cadbury’s War Memorial Room and the stunning Serbian Orthodox church, St Lazars.
Visitors can also pre-book tours of the Bournville Carillon, Bournville almshouses and the Cadbury archives from today (2nd September).
Many of the venues taking part will be putting on exhibitions, performances, trails, family fun and at St Francis Church, they’ll even be vintage vehicles on show.
The popular free event is co-ordinated by Bournville Village Trust in partnership with all the venues talking part and an army of incredible volunteers and helpers.
Daniel Callicott, Heritage Manager at Bournville Village Trust, said: “Bournville Heritage Open Day will have more exciting places to explore than ever before, with 17 venues opening their doors for free!
“From the spectacular Serbian Orthodox church of St Lazars and the beautiful Tudor Selly Manor Museum to the Cadbury Archive opening for the very first time, there really will be something for everyone to enjoy.
“The event is a great chance to bring family and friends to Bournville to see what makes the community so special and unique. It is an incredible team effort, with so many partners and groups coming together to showcase their fantastic buildings and the work that they do.”
Bournville Heritage Open Day takes place on Saturday 14th September from 10am-4pm and is free to enter.
