A man was left with serious injuries after being assaulted by a group of men in Northfield this weekend.

The incident happened at around 12.30am on Sunday (14th July) in Tessall Lane, behind Longbridge Train Station. The man was travelling in a taxi with his partner and another passenger when four males reportedly attempted to enter the vehicle, jumping on and hitting the car when it stopped at traffic lights by Jobcentre Plus at Bristol Road South.

When the man challenged the assailants, he was assaulted, suffering serious injuries to his arm and shoulder. He remains in hospital today (Tuesday 16th July).

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 00.28am to reports of an assault on Bristol Road South in Northfield, Birmingham.

“One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a man. He was assessed and had sustained potentially serious injuries. He received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to [..] hospital for further assessment.”
