West Midlands Police have charged a man after a 10-year-old boy was injured following a collision in Birmingham.

The youngster was hit by a car at the junction of Sir Harrys Road and Pershore Road at just after 6pm on Sunday (21st July).

The boy was on an e-scooter and sustained two broken legs – he now faces months of rehabilitation.

As part of police enquiries – they detained a 45-year-old man yesterday.

He has now been charged with failing to report an accident and has been bailed to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on the 11th of September.

A spokesperson for WMP said: “Following further investigations into the collision we’re now confident the car didn’t mount the pavement as initially understood.”

“We’re continuing to establish exactly what happened and are keen to hear from anyone with information or dashcam footage.”
