Abergavenny, Wales – June 10, 2024 – This past weekend, St Basils hosted an unforgettable event with over 500 incredible participants joining the Hike for Homeless 2024. The stunning Welsh countryside of Abergavenny provided a breathtaking backdrop as kind-hearted individuals tackled the beautiful yet challenging hills, all united in the goal to support vulnerable young people and help end youth homelessness in our communities. Participants came from all over the Midlands including corporate teams, walking groups and families looking for a great event for a wonderful cause.
Barrie Hodge, Head of Fundraising and Communications at St Basils, shared his heartfelt thanks, saying, “Seeing such a large number of compassionate people come together for this cause is incredibly moving. Their energy and enthusiasm are the lifeblood of our mission. We are profoundly grateful to everyone who took part and to our amazing volunteers who make everything we do possible.”
This year’s hike was more than just a physical challenge; it was a celebration of community spirit and collective effort. The event was made even more special thanks to the unwavering support of IM Properties. Their ongoing commitment to our cause has been invaluable.
A huge shoutout also goes to Three Pools Permaculture Farm, our wonderful hosts, who provided a warm and welcoming venue for the start and finish of the hike. The BBQ in the sunshine was the perfect way to end a day filled with camaraderie and determination.
To everyone who participated, volunteered, and supported us – thank you! Your dedication is making a real difference in the lives of young people facing homelessness. We have already raised over £50,000 and donations are still coming in. Together, we are creating a brighter , more hopeful future for so many vulnerable young people.”
