Local brain injury charity Headway will be holding a Family Fun Day in Cofton Park later this month and is urging local people to head along and join in the fun.

The day will run from 12-4pm on Sunday 30 June, and will include all the usual activities associated with a summer fayre (tombola, raffle, hook-a-duck, name the teddy etc) as well as whole lot more besides, from hand-made crafts to dog training displays! There will also be a bouncy castle and a range of refreshments, including a BBQ and an Indian street food stall.

All money raised will go towards Headway’s local services, supporting brain injury survivors and their families. This includes rehabilitation sessions at the charity’s three centres (including Leighton House in Rednal), enabling brain-injured people to re-learn lost skills and mix socially with others, plus one-to-one support at home and in the community to help those with brain injury take the next steps towards independent living. Headway also supports the wider family through its Family and Carer Services, from the hospital stage and beyond, with information/advice and group activities.

Ajit Matharu, Family and Carer Services Manager at Headway Birmingham & Solihull, said: “As in previous years, our Family Fun Day has something to interest all ages and is sure to be an enjoyable day all round.

“Entry is free, and thanks to the generosity of local businesses and some of our regular supporters, we have some fantastic prizes to be won in our raffle and tombola, plus there will be some delicious food available to buy as well.

“While the day is all about raising much-needed funds towards our local brain injury services, we also want to raise greater awareness of brain injury generally and the impact it can have on both the injured person and the wider family.

“We really hope local people will make a note of the date and come along if they can!”

There is plenty of car parking within Cofton Park and along Lowhill Lane, and Longbridge railway station is also within walking distance.
