A man is in a critical condition in hospital this morning following a collision in Northfield last night (Sunday 3rd March).

The collision – between a car and a pedestrian – happened in Egghill Lane, close to the Norrington Road junction just afer 9pm.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 9.04pm to a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Egghill Lane in Northfield.

”Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic attended the scene.

“Upon arrival we found a man who was the pedestrian. He was assessed and had sustained life-threatening injuries.

”Ambulance staff administered advanced trauma care to him at the scene and he was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.”

The road remained closed for several hours.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police confirmed that the driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting with their enquiries.
