We Just Read: City councillor Simon Morrall admits harassing ex-girlfriend after ‘secret’ relationship ended

The councillor, representing Frankley Great Park in Birmingham, admits harassment charge, community order imposed.

City councillor Simon Morrall has been sentenced to a one year community order after he admitted harassing an ex girlfriend with unwanted phone calls that left her distraught.

Their relationship had been largely conducted in secret because her family disapproved, Birmingham Magistrates Court heard. When the relationship deteriorated the woman had made clear to Morrall that she wanted to make a ‘fresh start’ and cut ties however he continued to ring her repeatedly.

But even after she stopped taking his calls he persisted to phone, to the point of harassing her, the court was told. Morrall, 34, of Rednal, Birmingham, admitted a single charge of pursuing a course of conduct that amounted to harassment of the woman between December 17, 2022 and January 7, 2023.
