A man has been arrested after a drugs warrant uncovered 60 cannabis plants growing at an address in north Worcestershire yesterday (Wednesday 27th September).
Officers from Rubery Safer Neighbourhood Team carried out the warrant in Parsonage Drive, Cofton Hackett.
The early morning raid came after local residents raised concerns about drugs and suspicious activity in the area.
Sixty cannabis plants – with an initial estimated street value of between £17,000 and £50,000, cultivation equipment and a sophisticated electrical system were found at the address.
Officers also found another 198 small plants around 10cm high. Though not of much value today, these could be worth another £1,000 per plant in a few months’ time.
During the raid a man fled the property via a first-floor window and jumped across roofs before he was found in the garden of a property in a neighbouring street unrelated to the warrant.
A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis.

PC Rod Hartwright of Rubery Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “The warrant today shows we will not tolerate drugs within our community and will continue to act on information given to us about drugs.
“Drugs have a negative impact on our communities and can lead to other localised criminality and the harm and exploitation of vulnerable people.”

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “The local community can help us by continuing to report any signs of criminal activity – the easiest way to do this is on our website. Any bit of information, no matter how small it may seem, could help make a big difference. You can report online under the Tell Us About section at West Mercia Police.
If you have information about drugs and drugs supply and don’t want to speak to police you can report information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or https://crimestoppers-uk.org/
