The King Edward VI Foundation is delighted to announce that Kings Norton Boys’ School has received approval from the West Midlands Regional Advisory Board to move forward with plans to join the Foundation in January 2024.

Kings Norton Boys’ School is a successful comprehensive school for boys aged 11 – 16, located in South Birmingham. The school’s ethos is “to strive to provide the highest quality education which allows all of its students to thrive academically and personally.”

Work now begins on the legal academy conversion requirements whilst involving the school in collaborative initiatives taking place across the Foundation. Pending final approvals, upon successful academy conversion, King’s Norton Boys’ School will join the eleven existing academies that are part of the King Edward VI Academy Trust, as well as the wider Foundation’s two independent schools.

David Clayton, Headteacher, comments “We are very much looking forward to joining the King Edward VI Foundation. We believe our school’s vision and values are a great match to those of the Foundation and we are excited to work with the various schools across the organisation.”

Jodh Dhesi, Chief Executive Officer for the King Edward VI Foundation said “We are so pleased to be welcoming another comprehensive school to join us on our mission to make Birmingham the best place to be educated in the UK. Kings Norton Boys’ School is a fantastic school, providing an effective, rounded education with a blend of traditional values with a forward-looking approach to learning. In joining the King Edward VI Foundation, the school will build on its strengths, whilst continuing to meet the needs of the local community.”

We look forward to welcoming Kings Norton Boys’ School into the King Edward VI Foundation Birmingham.”
