St Laurence Church Northfield is delighted to be displaying a 67 year old wooden crib set as part of its Nativity Festival this coming weekend (November 26th / 27th).
The set was made in 1955 for St Mary’s Church Warwick by Dick Hosking and stands almost 3 metres high and 1 metre in width.
Dick Hosking was Head of Coventry Art College from 1948 to 1965 and was married to the sculptor Alma Ramsey Hosking who created the crib set for Coventry Cathedral. Dick’s crib set was restored in 2016 for use in Stratford’s Guild Chapel.
Dick’s daughter Sarah will be supervising the move of the set today (Tuesday 22nd November) morning and will be available for interview at St Laurence Northfield from 12.30pm. She says ‘I love the idea of Dad’s set being displayed in Northfield; our family is pure Warwickshire and we lived in Birmingham for a time’

Dick’s set and the other 50 plus crib sets can be seen on Saturday between 10am and 3pm and on Sunday between 11am and 3pm. Admission is free and refreshments will be available. Donations will be welcomed for the Church and for the Dioceses in Malawi who are supported by the Diocese of Birmingham.
