Local brain injury charity Headway is urging people to grab a place at its Halloween-themed fun run, taking place later this month.

The Halloween Fun Run will be held in Cofton Park in Longbridge, starting at 11am on Sunday 30 October. The 5k route (or a single loop of 2.5k) can be walked, jogged or raced, and would suit more experienced runners as well as ParkRunners or those doing a Couch to 5k programme.

The event was a sell-out in its first year (2019), but did not go ahead in 2020 or 2021 due to COVID.

Julie Wedgbury, Communications & Fundraising Manager at Headway Birmingham & Solihull, explained: “This is a family-friendly event and so will be aiming for Halloween fun, rather than fright!”

She confirmed there would be plenty of spookery and witchery along the woodland paths and trails, and hopes both participants and spectators will dress up, as they did do
impressively for the event in its first year (see photos). Prizes will be awarded for the best Halloween costumes on the day. There will also be scary face painting, a Halloween-themed raffle and refreshments on offer.

Entry to the Halloween Fun Run is just £10 for adults and £5 for Under 12s in advance, and includes a themed medal as well as a ‘Trick or Treat’ goody bag. Places are limited and so early registration is recommended to avoid disappointment.

All proceeds from the event will go towards Headway’s brain injury services, helping improve life for brain injury survivors and their families in the local area. For more information and to book, visit www.headway-bs.org.uk/events, call 07483 173877 or email fundraising@headway-bs.org.uk.
