The Prom didn’t start quite as planned for a group of students when their stretch limo arrived and moments later ‘burst into flames’ in Bartley Green on Thursday evening (7th July).
West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) received several 999 calls to reports of a vehicle fire on Wychbury Road at 5:50pm.
Firefighters from Northfield fire station arrived to find the Hummer type limousine ablaze and several fabulously dressed teenagers looking shocked.
Luckily, no-one was in the vehicle or hurt.
The fire was safely extinguished in 20 minutes – its believed that it started because of an electrical fault.
A spokesperson for WMFS said: “We’re pleased to say that the students still managed to get to their event of the year, at Shenley Academy.”
