Jubilee Honours List: A local lady has been awarded a BEM (British Empire Medal) for services to the community in Northfield.
EcoBirmingham’s Community Learning Program Manager, Jackie Careless, donated over 300 kits to people to encourage them to grow their own food through her work at Allen’s Cross Community Gardens.
The garden at Allen’s Cross Community Association, grows produce and supplies fresh vegetables to the community.
Jackie said: “It’s a great honour receiving a British Empire Medal for work that has been done at Allen’s Cross Community Garden during covid. We provided growing packs and grew fresh produce that was given to the local community. None of this could have been achieved without the help of our fantastic volunteers.”
