The people of Birmingham took to the streets today (Saturday 6th November) to gather in support of climate justice.
Thousands of people – including Councillor for Northfield, Olly Armstrong – marched from Millennium Point in the city centre to demand more action on the climate crisis.
Local activist Danielle Parker said: “We’ve started a movement and we’re marching for a fair and just response to climate change for all. This is just the beginning of a conversation open to everyone that we hope will lead to system-changing action.”
There were several groups at the rally including biodiversity activists, faith groups, trade Unions & Workers, Youth & Students, Extinction Rebellion, political parties, families, Anti-racism, Food & Land Justice, Housing, Disability rights groups, and more
Whilst COP26 is taking place in Glasgow, there are 100s of climate change demonstrations planned across the UK and globally, in countries including France, Australia, Turkey, Brazil and Canada.
Activists, including Greta Thunberg, have addressed crowds in Glasgow.
