Wonderful garden volunteers celebrated their much deserved Queens Award in style.
The volunteers at Allens Cross Community Garden, which is based in the middle of Northfield, were thrilled to accept the Queens Award for Voluntary Service recently at the Hippodrome in Birmingham.
Many of their generous volunteers attended the awards ceremony, including the lovely Lenore and Olive, who represented the garden and accepted the award on stage.
A spokesperson for Allens Cross Community Garden said: “It is all thanks to our wonderful volunteers that we won the award, which is the MBE for volunteer organisations.
“It was their hard work, keeping the garden going through extremely challenging circumstances over the last 18 months. They grew fruit and veg that was shared with the public, helped to keep the garden looking beautiful and contributed to making our Grow Your Own project a success.
“We really appreciate all our fantastic volunteers and the amazing work they do and we were delighted to be able to celebrate this award with them at the special event.”
