A motorcyclist has sadly died after a collision in Northfield in the early hours of this morning (Saturday 25th September).
The 30 year old man suffered serious injuries after colliding with a road sign in Sir Herbert Austin Way (A38) at just before 5am. It is not believed any other vehicles were involved.
He was rushed to hospital by paramedics, but in spite of best efforts of medics, was sadly pronounced dead hours later.
The crossroads at Isaac Tongue Junction (A38, Bell Hill, Bell Lane) remain closed while the scene is investigated.
Officers from West Midlands Police’s serious collision investigation unit are appealing for information.
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes said: “Our thoughts go out to this man’s family and friends who are being supported by specialist officers during this difficult time.
“He was riding a black Honda CBR 600 and we are asking anyone who may have dash cam of the incident to contact us or anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen or heard anything.
“At this stage we do not believe any other vehicles to have been involved in this tragic incident, however we need to speak to any witnesses to determine how this man lost his life this morning.
“The road is due to be closed for most of the morning, and we thank motorists for their patience as we carry out our investigation.”
