Birmingham City Council have announced that the city’s German Christmas market, ice skating and big wheel will all return this year.
Celebrating its 21st year in Birmingham, the reknowned Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market will return in November, bringing some festive cheer after last year’s market was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The market will open on Thursday 4 November, with the festive aroma of hot gluhwein, schnitzel and spicy sausage once more filling the air in New Street and Victoria Square for seven weeks. There will be stalls selling food and drink, traditional toys, ornaments and gifts, but fewer than previous years due to ongoing works around Victoria Square.
However, this year’s event does come with the caveat of change or cancellation, should Covid restrictions come back into effect during the winter.
Ice Skate Birmingham
is also due to return with undercover skating and the big wheel in Centenary Square from 4 November 2021 until 9 January 2021, between 10am and 10pm, except on Christmas Day. For more information and to book tickets visit www.iceskatebirmingham.co.uk
