A man and a woman have been arrested after a man and his dog were sadly killed in a hit and run collision in Alvechurch yesterday afternoon (Sunday 15th August).
And investigating officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward, along with anyone who may have CCTV and dash cam images.
The tragic incident happened in Redditch Road at around 6.50pm.
West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics attended alongside Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended, but unfortunately the man (63) and his dog both died at the scene.
A WMAS spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived at the scene on Redditch Road to find a man, the pedestrian, in a critical condition. Staff administered advanced trauma care to the man at the scene, but sadly despite the best efforts, nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased on scene.”
Arrests
Following the collision, West Mercia Police launched a social media appeal to locate a ‘large’ ‘dark’ vehicle with ‘significant front end damage’ which had failed to remain at the scene.
This morning, West Mercia Police confirmed that a man and a woman – both 27 years old and from Hollywood – had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The man has also additionally been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a collision and perverting the course of justice.
Both suspects remain in police custody.
Police are now appealing for anyone who has any information that may help their investigation – especially any CCTV or dash-cam footage – to contact them on 101, quoting incident number 00555_I_15082021.
