A new Heritage trail in Manor Farm Park tells the history of the park using the latest QR Code technology.
A 2-kilometre walking trail around ten sites of interest in the park unlocks the history of the park going back hundreds of years.
Opened by Trustee and Former Chair of Bournville Village Trust, Duncan Cadbury, the trail, which is accessible by wheelchair, visits sites such as the former Cadbury Barn, built by George and Elizabeth Cadbury in 1895 to host parties for children and families from the inner city. The trail visits an Ancient Hedgerow which dates from the 16th Century and the beautiful Great Meadow, which was once a fishpond.
The Trail visits sites around the large lake and, by scanning the QR codes on the notice boards and fences, users can read about their history.
Funded by the grants from National Lottery’s Heritage Fund, the WA Cadbury Charitable Trust and the Baron Davenport Fund, the Friends of Manor Farm have installed the trail together with three accessible picnic tables. There will be a short film about the trail and educational materials for schools.

There are articles about the Quaker led, Friends Ambulance Unit that trained in the park during World War II, before going to theatres of war to assist the wounded, the history of Manor House and the land use from its time as a deer park to a farm and then George and Elizabeth Cadbury’s estate. .
