M&S Longbridge is the latest store to introduce a ‘Sensory Shopping Hour’, providing a weekly quieter, time to support customers with autism and sensory issues who may find be overwhelmed by busy environments.

The sensory-friendly hour will take place every Monday morning between 10am and 11am.

There will be a number of adjustments throughout the store, including dimmed lights, no music played and a reduction in the ringing of till bells in-store. M&S colleagues will also be on hand to speak to customers about the initiative and offer additional support as required.

Russ Tatton, Store Manager at M&S Longbridge said: “We are delighted to be offering a Sensory Shopping Hour in our store. It’s really important that we do what we can to support everyone in our local community and make shopping inclusive for all our customers. Our whole team has really got behind the initiative and it’s been wonderful to see our customers embracing the sensory friendly environment.

“We will be holding the Sensory Shopping Hour every week from 10:00-11:00am and we look forward to receiving feedback from our customers to help us shape our sensory friendly hour moving forwards.”
