A Kings Norton mum has shared a poetic tribute to a much loved son who passed away suddenly a day before Christmas, aged just 12 years.

St Thomas Aquinas School pupil Jake Timmis suffered an acute exacerbation of asthma and passed away on Wednesday 23rd December.

I was lucky enough to meet Jake in 2015 to deliver gifts donated by B31 Voices readers after the family were the victims of a callous burglary days before Christmas. It was a pleasure to meet such a bright and happy boy.

In an announcement to families in the St Thomas Aquinas school community, headteacher Chris Martin wrote: “Jake really was a very good and kind boy with a big heart. Jake had a very caring and gentle side and had an innocence that was incredibly endearing.”

Our hearts go out to his mum Natalie and dad Arther and all Jake’s family and friends at this desperately sad time.

Rest in peace, beautiful boy.

Our hearts are broken because you left today,
So excited for Christmas then they took you away,
We had so many plans for the future ahead,
Now we have to do them without you instead,
Arther, your dad has never fallen like this,
Saying goodbye, his last hug to you and a final kiss,
He’s broken, lost and has an emptiness inside just like me,
We’re saying goodbye to one of our children of three.
I found old messages from you today,
I read them and they took my breath away,
When you were last poorly in a hospital bed,
You were going to terrorise us the next day ahead,
You fought everyday and your smile still beamed,
All the strength and energy wasn’t enough it seemed,
You were taken from us and our hearts are broken,
Amelia, your best friend searching when she had woken,
Jakey, where’s Jakey, Jakey’s at school,
Tears rolling the pain in my heart, why is the world so cruel?
We will love you and miss you everyday,
We hope there’s a playstation for you to play,
You are now the biggest star shining bright,
We will miss you like crazy day and night,
Goodnight, sweet dreams you’re in pain no more,
Our hearts are where you will stay forever more.
😇💙
