West Midlands Police are seeking a 39 year old man from Stirchley after a taxi driver was assaulted in Druid’s Heath last week (Tuesday 30 June).
Detectives want to speak to Adam Clancy after footage of the assault on the 52 year old man was circulated on social media.
The incident happened at around 2pm in Kimpton Avenue after a dispute over a taxi fare.
The 52-year-old taxi driver was repeatedly punched and was taken to hospital with a cut and swelling to his face.
Clancy was quickly identified as the prime suspect and despite arrest attempts at more than seven properties he remains at large.
West Midlands Police have now issued his image to the public as part of an appeal to locate and arrest him.
Clancy is from the Stirchley area and has links to Druids Heath, Acocks Green and Bromsgrove.
Detective Sergeant Patrick Simpson, said: “To put it simply, people should not go to work fearing that they’ll be attacked or abused as they try to do their job.
“The taxi driver sustained injuries that required hospital treatment, and we know that many people who’ve seen the footage are understandably shocked and outraged at what happened – please be assured that we are determined to find who was responsible.
“I would urge anyone with information which will assist our investigation to contact us […]
“I would also urge Adam Clancy to do the right thing and hand himself in as soon as possible.”
