A social club in Longbridge Lane is undergoing renovation works and a partial change of use, in a bid to improve income.

Work to revamp Greenlands Social Club, opposite Longbridge station, is now well underway after planning permission for the changes was granted by Birmingham City Council in February.

Plans will see the addition of 27 bedrooms as the club looks to supplement its income by offering bed and breakfast.

Information submitted with the approved planning application states: “The new accommodation will serve to underpin the club enterprise, particularly during the week when customer numbers are lower. The overnight accommodation is intended to cater for travelling business people or workmen/women during the week.”

The refurbishment will also see a remodelling of the club facilities, with a larger single lounge bar and a smaller ground floor function room.

The supporting document states: “[…] the entire premises will be refurbished and upgraded including new disabled facilities, new fixtures and fittings and decoration.”
