In a statement to the House of Commons this lunch time (Tuesday 23rd June), Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced major changes to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.
From 4th July, social distancing restrictions – currently set at 2 metres – will be partially eased in some settings to enable businesses to reopen and recover.
Under the new guidelines, people will be expected to maintain a social distance of 2 metres where possible. Where 2 metres is not possible, a new ‘1 metre plus’ restriction will be used. This will involve people maintaining at least 1 metre distance but with extra protective measures in place, such as face coverings, barriers, rearranged seating, improved ventilation etc.
Additionally, two households of any size will be able to meet normally, inside or outdoors.
The Prime minister said that these changes will enable many more businesses to ‘safely reopen’.
Business and facilities to reopen from the 4th July with COVID-secure measures include:
- Pubs
- Restaurants & cafes
- Hotels, B&Bs, campsites
- Hairdressers
- Museums and art galleries
- Theme parks
- Libraries
- Playgrounds
- Places of worship
(Not a complete list)
Some businesses where people are in very close proximity – such as indoor gyms and nightclubs – will remain closed at the moment while precautions are looked in to.
Mr Johnson said that we must all remain vigilant and “caution remains our watch word”, stressing all measures are conditional and reversible if there is a further need for restriction.

Despite all the tardiness,PR stunts, announced targets and 5 months to get a grip, there are still 5000 cases a day,150 deaths,no effective test system or tracking system and as Cummings proved the isolating system is a joke, the R rate is at 1 and rising and these idiots have done nothing to prepare for the next wave.
When we eventually get through this, and we will,it will be in spite these people, not because of them.I just hope in the aftermath, when we are counting and remembering the dead, that people also remember that when other countries eased lockdown they had entered lockdown way before us,had gotten effective test, track and trace systems in place, had reduced the number of infections in the community, and had much fewer deaths per day before easing….
Our government still has gotten local public health systems involved and would rather tender it to private companies like G4S,Capita,Serco and Atos. Is it any wonder that its so disorganised and missed every single target they’ve set themselves.
we truly are being governed by donkeys, shysters and compulsive liars.
I am no fan of Boris, but whatever he does will be undermined by the Opposition, the media, so-called experts and of course the general public at large.
That said, no matter what Boris does it will be undermined by the moronic behavior of some members of the public who decided to descend on a number of seaside resorts over the last few days – in particular Brighton and Bournemouth to name but two.
Thousands of bathers, ignoring SD, and leaving several tons of litter and junk in their wake.
If ever there is a second wave, then yes perhaps some blame can be pointed at Boris; but cretins such as those above should also be blamed for placing people at risk despite the obvious warnings.
5 months in and still no effective test, track and isolate system or long term clear plan for the country, but this week could be momentous, Boris Johnson has finally told the truth, even if inadvertently with his whake a mole strategy, the dictionary definition,
whack-a-mole-
-used with reference to a situation in which attempts to solve a problem are piecemeal or superficial, resulting only in temporary or minor improvement.-
inane slogans and unfulfilled PR promises will win referendums and elections, but are useless against an airborne virus.
It’s not only the lies they have to keep telling, it’s that those lies look to rewrite history and blame someone else for the Conservative governments failures,
The latest lie Boris is telling and being echoed by minister’s is that in March, despite care homes following all government guidelines they didn’t folllow “the correct procedures they could have done” he said nothing about what these procedures were, or how they differed to the governments guidelines they were following at the time, that were supposedly written to throw a “protective ring around” the most vulnerable and which has led to over 20,000 deaths. In care homes.
When asked further questions, Boris tried to backtrack and said that what he actually meant was….
“The reality is we now know things about how the coronavirus is passed, person to person, without symptoms, that we just didn’t know”
– -Boris Johnson
Which he knows is a lie and a rewriting of history, as can be seen on an article from the BBC in January 26
hxxps://www-bbc-co-uk.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/world-asia-china-51254523?amp_js_v=a3&_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQFKAGwASA%3D#aoh=15942389729536&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&_tf=From%20%251%24s
And a science journal a week later confirmed the suspicion of asymptomatic transmission.

The government definetly knew about asymptomatic transmission before March and Boris Johnson has lied about it to shift blame.
