A burglary suspect was arrested after a gun was thrown from a car window during a police pursuit in Northfield yesterday (Monday 1st June).

West Midlands Police officers were initially called to an aggravated burglary in Thurlestone Road, Longbridge just after midday.

Three men gained entry to a home where two residents were present. The men were masked and a knife was seen.

Shortly afterwards, police response officers spotted a car suspected to have been involved in the burglary. When the car failed to stop for police, a pursuit was initiated through Northfield.

During the pursuit, a handgun was seen to be thrown from the car window in Church Road. The weapon was recovered and, following assessment by armed officers, was found to be an imitation firearm.

The pursuit ended at the entrance to West Heath Park on Slingfield Road / The Fordrough, West Heath.

A search of the park and surrounding area was carried out by officers, supported by the force drone and National Police Air Support helicopter.

One man (26) was arrested on suspicion of burglary and has been bailed with conditions.
