Lickey Hills Country Park Rangers urge visitors not to have BBQs or fires after having 8 fires at the site in 7 days.
The popular park which attracts visitors from across the city had 8 fires in 7 days caused by disposable BBQs – despite signs saying at every main entrance and additional signs throughout.
Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service attended and dealt with 3 fires on Saturday (30th May) which were caused by disposable BBQs – they found a total of 12 BBQs.
Spokesperson for Lickey Hills Country Park said: “Please – don’t have BBQs or fires. “Thank you to everyone who attended to put out the fires”
Bromsgrove Police said: “Fire crews have attended a several fires in the area that were results of careless & naive actions due to people leaving disposable BBQ left to smoulder away in fields. Please think of the consequences”
Barbecues and fires are not permitted in Birmingham or Bromsgrove parks throughout.
