A big hearted fundraiser has raised a whopping £1,131 for a local charity based in Longbridge.

Local resident, Stephen Walsh laughed in the face of vanity and decided to let his hair grow freely for a year without any attempts of self grooming or sneaky intervention from a stylist.

On the 30th April 2019 (his birthday), a then 37 year old Stephen set up a crowdfunding page to raise £1000 (or as much money as his unkempt locks could) in 1 year for The Project Birmingham – a charity specialising in homeless prevention.

One year on, the ‘hairier’ owner of Redlander PAT Testing from Rednal celebrated his 38th birthday by smashing his target by raising an excellent £1,131 – an amount which will go towards helping many local residents in need of support.

Stephen Said: “Thank you to all who have supported me and donated to the cause. It means a lot and I can’t thank you enough x”

Adding: “Not only am I glad about the money raised. But I have also enjoyed educating people about the Project and all of the fantastic work that they do.”

The Project Birmingham’s Chief Executive Helen Sephton said: “We can’t thank Stephen enough, his ongoing commitment to The Project has been shown in so many ways including the length of his hair. The money will be used to buy food and essentials items for people in crisis.”
