Local community groups have organised some support for any ex-workers who may need it as some of the last remnants of the former car manufacturing factory are demolished.
Pride of Longbridge and God’s Heart for Longbridge have come together to offer support for those who are finding the impact of the regeneration difficult.
Pride of Longbridge organiser Gemma Cartwright MBE said: “The demolition of the historic car industry buildings and the redevelopment of Longbridge is very hard for some to watch and emotions can take over.
“This past weekend, work began on taking apart some of the large buildings and it has caused emotions to rise again. We hope people will be able to join us and God’s Heart for Longbridge for a chat on Wednesday so we can support each other.”
Those who would like spiritual support, or just to speak with others affected, a session has been arranged at St John the Baptist Church in Longbridge, hosted by Rev. Colin Corke. All are invited to pop in for a cup of tea and a chat between 2.30pm and 4pm on Wednesday 4th March. There will be opportunity for prayer with some of the God’s Heart for Longbridge team, for those who want it.
Later that evening, all are invited to join in the weekly service of Holy Communion at 7.15pm and stay for a chat from 8pm – 8:30pm.
