Northfield Argos to move off the high street & in to Sainsbury’s store

The Argos store on Northfield high street is set to be closed, with provision being moved in to the nearby Sainsbury’s store. 

Sainsbury’s bought Argos’ parent Home Retail Group in 2016 in a £1.4 billion takeover.

In September last year, the supermarket giant announced that a further 60 to 70 Argos stores were set to close and be moved into Sainsbury’s stores, as part of a five year plan to cut costs by around £500 million.

A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s confirmed the Northfield move, saying: “Our Argos Northfield store will be closing later this year and moving to Sainsbury’s Northfield. All of our colleagues have been offered the opportunity to redeploy to other stores.”
