It’s that time of year again when Birmingham’s Victoria Square and New Street is transformed into a Christmasy wonderland of toys and gifts surrounded with the festive aroma of hot gluhwein, schnitzel and spicy sausage.

The city’s internationally renowned Frankfurt Christmas Market opened today (15th of November) and will remain open until 23rd December between 10am-9pm daily, much to the delight of those who love a bit of Christmas shopping, eating and a little festive drink of course.

Earlier this year, the Frankfurt Christmas Market was named Best Outdoor Event in the city by readers of What’s On, in a category which also included Digbeth Dining Club, Birmingham Pride, Summer in Southside and Magical Christmas at the Botanical Gardens.

The market’s bandstand will feature performances every day from a range of groups, including local acts and choirs on Saturdays and Sundays, and the annual Family Day, when traders offer a range of one-day discounts, will take place on Sunday 9 December. He
