A Northfield animal lover has released her first book – ‘A moving, uplifting true story of a girl who loves animals’ – with some of the proceeds to go to support a local animal rescue.
Lisa Murray-Lang has always been mad about animals. In fact, she previously told B31 Voices that some would describe her as ‘barking mad’ or ‘the crazy cat lady’!
However, Lisa originally chose a different path, study graphic design at university.
After graduating, she relocated and got a job as a packaging designer at Cadbury’s chocolate factory in Bournville.
Unfortunately, redundancy left her reeling, directionless and unsure of her future.
But fear not, reader, because Lisa was saved! Lisa’s love for her pet cat Madison inspired her to follow her heart and start up her own business doing what she loved the most – spending time with animals!
From Wags to Whiskers was born, a bespoke pet sitting and dog walking service with Lisa’s special personal, loving touch.
Having been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis some ten years ago, Lisa believes it’s her pets and her business that keep her fit, active and well.
Her pets – including handsome ginger fluff ball, Bob the Cat – provide Lisa with inspiration and happiness.
Lisa was moved when she read about how homeless, recovering heroin addict James Bowen and stray ginger tom cat Bob got together on the streets of London and saved each other. Although a completely different story, Lisa felt an affiliation between her and her Bob and James and his Bob.
She was inspired to tell her own story and began writing her own book. She describes On a Whisker and a Prayer as: “A tale of ups and downs, laughter and tears, redundancy, health issues and the amazing power of pets!”
Lisa is always going that extra mile to raise money for thosein need – human or animal – so 10% of all book sales will be donated directly to Cramar Cat Rescue in Hopwood.
