Recent Dr Bike session at Selly Oak Station

There will be a FREE Dr Bike event at Northfield Station on Thursday 23rd May, from 3pm –  6pm

The event is run by Bike Right and Safer Travel Police as Part of the Smart Network scheme promoting safe travel by cycling, walking and public transport.

People can take their bikes along for a free safety check, sign up for free cycling training and cycle maintenance training at the event, buy discounted D-Locks and get their bikes security marked by Safer Travel Police.

As part of the Smart Network, Smarter Choices program anyone over 16 who lives, works or studies within 800metres of the A38 or A441, or uses Selly Oak, Northfield, Kings Norton or Longbridge train stations can get up to six hours of free cycling training and cycle maintenance training.

The cycling training is suitable for people who have never ridden a bike all the way through to experienced cyclists wanting to improve their skills, whilst the cycle maintenance training covers all the basics required to keep your bike safely on the road safety checks, repairing punctures, maintaining gears and brakes.
