West Mercia Police has successfully secured a renewed a five-year revalidation under the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), for our support to the armed forces community.
This acknowledges our long-term commitment to those who serve, or have served, in the armed forces.
The force’s recruitment and selection processes are forces-friendly, and Reservist employees are provided with at least 10 days of additional fully paid leave for training.
We also work alongside the Forces Transition Group, and the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) to provide employment opportunities to ex-armed forces personnel.
Earlier this year, we re-signed the Armed Forces Covenant to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. By signing it, we pledged to show fairness and respect to everyone in the armed forces.
Detective Inspector Martin Brown, who is a proud army reservist, said: “I am delighted that we have been recognised for our continued commitment to supporting our armed forces and veteran communities in Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire.
“We will continue to work with the armed forces community whether they are employed by us or in the communities we serve.”
