A third arrest has been made and police have been given powers of dispersal after a disorder in south Birmingham left two in hospital with stab injuries yesterday evening (Tuesday 25th August).
West Midlands Police were called to Grimley Road in West Heath at around 4.45pm where they found a 15-year-old boy with stab wounds. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening but he remains in hospital.
A 16-year-old boy was found with stab injuries nearby in Redgate Close, off The Fairway, Kings Norton. He was taken to hospital and has been arrested on suspicion of wounding.
A third boy, aged 16, also remains in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of wounding.
A fourth teenager, aged 15, has also been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
The three arrested teens remain in police custody today (Weds 16th August).
Officers were at the scene last night and some local roads were briefly closed but have now reopened.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “Our investigation is continuing at pace, and detectives are carrying out several enquiries as we work to establish the circumstances around what happened.
“Today (26 August), a dispersal order has been put in place from 11.42am for the next 48 hours, allowing us to move people or groups away from the area shown on the map.
“We also have dedicated resources in place patrolling the local area to offer reassurance to the local community.”
Inspector Matthew Shaw, from the local policing team, said: “We understand this was a concerning incident which is why we’re taking proportionate steps to prevent disorder and reassure the community as our investigation continues.
“You may notice extra officers on patrol in the area, and we’re ready to listen to any concerns from residents.
