A popular Northfield eatery has been officially named a winner in the highly prestigious Curry Life Awards 2025, cementing its status as one of the top 20 curry houses nationally.
Saffron Lounge in Bristol Road South opened 5 years ago and has become a mainstay in Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine.
There is a real family atmosphere at the 86-seat venue, which also hosts monthly live entertainment. Owner Azad Miah brings decades of experience to the business he runs alongside his three sons and dedicated staff, including his nephew, a chef.
Saffron Lounge secured the top spot in the highly competitive ‘Best Restaurant of the Year’ category. The team received their award on 12th October in a spectacular ceremony at the prestigious Marriott Grosvenor Square in Mayfair, London.
The glitzy event was hosted by Nina Hossain of ITV News and brought together the elite of the British curry industry –alongside politicians and media – to celebrate the innovation and excellence that define the sector.
The restaurant’s reputation is built on a personal connection – Mr Miah says: “I love to serve the customers, that’s what it’s all about”. And also its vast menu, showcasing signature dishes like the Khapur, a popular medium-hot lamb dish from Azad’s native village in Bangladesh, and the cheesy Nawabi balti-style curry.
Mr Miah expressed immense pride upon receiving the award: “I would like to thank my family, my sons, and all of my staff. This recognition inspires us to keep delivering the best for our customers, and we look forward to a successful future together.”
