Last month, we answered a query regarding the closure of the Glenart Castle Mess in Longbridge.
The mess provides accommodation for medical specialists working at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine (RCDM) at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. It was closed for plumbing works in July.
Birmingham Northfield MP Laurence Turner requested an update from the Ministry of Defence and today has posted the following update: “Glenart Castle Mess closed in July 2025 to allow for an upgrade to the water system infrastructure in the building. The maintenance works have progressed well and are on schedule, with 90% of works being complete.
“The mess is planned to reopen on 11 November 2025 back to its original use.”
