A brother and sister have been convicted for the murder of a man in Birmingham last year.
Isaiah Marsh, aged 20, and Mya Marsh, aged 23, both from Kings Norton, have been convicted after 21-year-old Minister Enfrence was fatally stabbed in Medway Grove, Kings Norton, on 5th November last year.
The tragic incident happened just before 10am on 5th November, after Mya Marsh arranged to meet Minister, and she did so while armed with a knife. A dispute ensued and Isaiah Marsh later arrived having been called to the location by his sister – where he attacked Minister before stabbing him.
Isaiah Marsh went on to stab Minister more than 20 times, in a horrific ordeal. An act that was encouraged by his sister.
Minister managed to leave the scene but due to the nature of his injuries, he collapsed nearby. Two members of the public tried their best to help the 21-year-old before paramedics arrived, but it was sadly too late.
The callous nature shown by both Isaiah Marsh and Mya Marsh was shocking – highlighted by the fact that Mya Marsh walked away from the scene with Minister’s bike and casually went to work for the day as if nothing had happened. Isaiah Marsh cycled away before taking himself to hospital for injuries to his hands.
While leaving the scene, the pair tried their best to hide evidence from the vicious murder by stashing two knives in their wheelie bin, along with their clothing worn at the scene.
A murder investigation was immediately launched by West Midlands Police’s (WMP) Homicide Team and after reviewing CCTV footage, Isaiah and Mya Marsh were identified as the offenders.
Officers arrested Mya the day after the murder and Isaiah Marsh handed himself later the same day.
Despite providing contradicting accounts in interview, both were charged with murder.
After pleading not guilty, the two were convicted of murder following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court today.
Minister’s family shared a statement shortly after his death, saying: “Minister, you have been taken from us so abruptly and this has made an impact in our lives leaving, a hole in our hearts that cannot be filled. But we are happy to say you are now with the Lord in a better place. We will meet you again in eternity.”
Det Insp Dan Jarratt, from WMP’s Homicide Team, said: “Minister’s murder has had a devastating impact on all who knew and loved him, especially his family.”
“This was a brutal and cold-hearted attack in broad daylight. The vicious nature of the attack is highlighted by the number of wounds that Minister suffered. The callous nature from the two shown afterwards further highlighted the nonchalant attitude after taking the life of a man.”
“Nothing will ever bring Minister back, but I hope that today’s verdicts will provide a level of comfort to his family and loved ones.”
