Smart Works is a national charity with a Birmingham office having launched in August 2016. Smart Works provides high quality interview clothes, styling advice and interview training to women in need. We help women to feel confident, look fabulous, succeed at their job interview and move on with their life.
This year, across the UK, we will dress more than 3,000 women in a complete outfit of stylish, high quality clothes donated by retailers and professionals. A visit to Smart Works can change the course of a woman’s life.
Women come to us when they have a confirmed job interview. We provide clients with a full interview outfit, personally styled for them and theirs to keep, followed by one-to-one interview coaching, so they feel more confident and start believing in their own ability to succeed. The Smart Works service is delivered by a team of highly skilled, fully trained female volunteers and all our stock is donated from other working women or comes direct from retailers.
We are very much about women supporting other women to empower each other and boost confidence ready for interview.
Smart Works Birmingham is looking for dressing volunteers to help style our clients in appropriate interview outfits. Stylists greet our clients when they first arrive and work with them to select items they think would be a good match for the client from our dressing room of clothes and accessories. Stylists work in pairs so that there is always someone else there to bounce ideas off and for additional support.
This role also includes stockroom management, you will also be helping to replenish stock and sort through new donations.
We are looking for people who have excellent communication skills, are non-judgemental and have plenty of energy. You don’t have to be a stylist in your day job to do this role but you must have a keen eye for fashion. Our stylists do not dictate to our clients what they should wear, it’s a team effort to find something fabulous.
We are looking for dressing volunteers to join the team one day a week (or once every two weeks) from 10am – 4pm (we can also provide half day opportunities). We are looking for women who can provide a longer term commitment and support the needs of our clients.
You will need to be adaptable and willing to chip in and get involved where necessary.
We may be able to accommodate half days if you aren’t able to commit to a full day and where we don’t have a full day of appointments, you may be able to leave earlier. We are also look for those who can’t give a regular commitment but who could cover for our other dressers when needed.
This opportunity is based at Smart Works Birmingham, 695 Bristol Road South, Northfield, Birmingham, B31 2JT.
