    Do you have passion for Northfield Town Centre? Do you have experience working within a town centre, retailing or commercial setting? Would you like to earn above the national living wage?  If so, Northfield Town Centre BID Ltd (BID) are looking to recruit for a BID High Street Warden to work a minimum 5 days a week over 30 hours a week with a generous annual leave entitlement including Bank Holidays.

    About Us:

    Northfield Town Centre BID Ltd has been working with the Northfield business community to deliver additional projects and services that improve the business environment and the experiences of visitors since 2012.  Northfield BID is operated by an independent business led “not-for-profit” company, led by Board of Business directors representing different sectors.  The Board of Directors are accountable to the local business membership, and is managed by a BID Town Centre Manager, supported by the BID Operations Support Officer.

    Northfield BID’s work programme is guided by our four priorities that were voted for by the Northfield business community in Summer 2016.  These are:

    • Improving Northfield – making a visual and physical difference to the town centre.
    • Protecting Northfield – providing a safe and secure environment for businesses, customers and visitors to the Town Centre.
    • Promoting Northfield – providing diverse shopping services and attractions for the town, with the aim of promoting Northfield as widely as possible.
    • Campaigning for Northfield – providing business support for the Northfield business community and influencing decision makers to get the best deal for Northfield Town Centre.

    The Position:

    We are looking for an individual who will provide a high visibility uniformed presence on Northfield “High Street”, who has a “can-do” attitude with a knowledge and passion for Northfield.  The person we are looking for will have the ability to “think on their feet” and have a desire to deliver a quality service to 220+ businesses that provide retailing and other services to customers and visitors to Northfield Town Centre.

    Along with the BID Town Centre Manager and the BID Operations Support Officer, you will be meeting one of our BID priorities in “Protecting Northfield” in providing general security, safety advice and guidance to BID businesses to ensure that the businesses see the value and worth of Northfield BID.

    The successful High Street Warden will earn £8.50 per hour during their probationary period of 6 months of a 12-month fixed term contract.  This could increase to £9 per hour based upon the successful completion of your probationary period.  There will be an option for you to extend the contract beyond 12 months to 31st December 2021 (which will be dependent upon a successful BID renewal ballot, which is due to take place in Summer 2021).

    You will work 30 hours per week, over a 5-day week (with varying hours, depending upon the town’s business need). You will be entitled to 25 days annual leave and the statutory Bank Holidays.

    The Location:

    Northfield Town Centre BID Ltd is one of eleven Business Improvement Districts within Birmingham, West Midlands.  Northfield Town Centre is the principal local centre and only BID in South West Birmingham, 9 miles outside the City Centre (A38 south).  The BID Team are based within the heart of the Town Centre.

    The issues and opportunities that affect our businesses provide the driving force for the BID, as it aims to improve, protect, promote and campaign for Northfield town centre. The BID (pronounced ‘bid’) delivers projects and services additional to those provided by Birmingham City Council and West Midlands Police.  It does not duplicate or replace their statutory services.

    The BID High Street Warden service would provide additionality primarily to the “Improving Northfield” priority, although you will work across all the BID’s priorities.
