To undertake these roles you do not need lots of experience and can be newly or part qualified, but you must have a passion for transformative education and share the values of the college.

Fircroft is a residential college occupying a former Cadbury family home, set in six acres of beautiful grounds in Selly Oak, Birmingham. We were originally founded to provide educational opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged and excluded members of society. One hundred years on from the birth of Fircroft College, its mission of ‘social justice’ is more relevant than ever. Fircroft is a thriving and ambitious College with a vast and diverse community of learners and a strong ethos.

Our team of Tutors plan and teach on agreed programmes whilst contributing the development of the College’s innovative curriculum. You will undertake a teaching commitment by meeting targets and criteria set out by the College for outstanding teaching, learning and assessment. You will be expected to collaborate with staff across the College to ensure an excellent learner experience and participate fully in the life of the College by adding value to learning beyond the core business.

To be considered for these roles you must have an appropriate academic or professional qualification, or equivalent industry experience. It is desirable that you have a recognised teaching qualification but not essential. The college supports continuous professional and personal development and all staff are expected to model the transformation we want for students.

The right person will be someone who enjoys working at a fast pace with a variety of different tasks, who is self-managed with a strong work ethic, who has a positive outlook and a ‘can do’ attitude and is a completer / finisher.

The closing date: 2 August 2019

Interviews will take place on 16 August 2019, further dates may be arranged depending on interest and availability.

This College is committed to equality of opportunity, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults, and expects all staff to share this commitment.

We particularly welcome applications from underrepresented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
