Salary £28,715 – £35,288 per annum, pro rata

Fircroft is a residential college occupying a former Cadbury family home, set in six acres of beautiful grounds in Selly Oak, Birmingham. We were originally founded to provide educational opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged and excluded members of society. One hundred years on from the birth of Fircroft College, its mission of ‘social justice’ is more relevant than ever. Fircroft is a thriving and ambitious College with a vast and diverse community of learners and a strong ethos.
Fircroft is currently in an exciting phase of improvement and development, we are now in a position to appoint fractional tutors to plan and teach on agreed programmes and to lead development and practice in relation to skills for volunteering and work.
As a member of the Education Team, you will contribute to the development of our curriculum. You will be required to meet the targets and criteria set by the college for outstanding teaching, learning and assessment. As part of the role, you will collaborate with staff across the college to ensure an excellent learner experience and progression and will participate fully in the college’s quality improvement activity, including moderation and learning walks.
To be considered for this role you must hold an appropriate degree or professional qualifications in a relevant subject, together with a recognised teaching qualification and/or Level 5-7 subject specialism. You must have the ability to teach on programmes that are designed around Personal and Social Development and Citizenship such as Improving Assertiveness and Decision Making, Coping with Stress, Social Awareness, Beliefs and Values. You must also be able to demonstrate a track record of curriculum innovation and materials development. Ideally, you will also have past experience of community learning and RARPA. You will have a personal commitment to reflection and CPD.
The right person will be someone who understands the differences of teaching in adult education and has a background or some exposure of working with students who may face multiple disadvantages. Any experience of adult or residential education would be beneficial.
