The incident happened after a black Renault Clio failed to stop for police officers in the Northfield area yesterday afternoon (8th July).
A short pursuit took place, before the car eventually came to a stop on Honiton Crescent at 12.15pm.
Officers feared for their safety as they arrested the driver, and used CS spray to incapacitate the passenger. She received treatment at the scene.
She was found with a small amount of cannabis, and will be voluntarily interviewed in due course.
The 25-year-old driver was taken into custody on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving without insurance and failing to stop.
A witness at the scene said: “My kids witnessed it all as I was just about to leave to go to nursery but the police handled the situation so well!”
The driver was later released pending further investigation.
