A teenage boy from Northfield was set to appear in court on numerous burglary charges this morning (Saturday 27th April) after West Midlands Police took the unusual step of launching a social media appeal to locate him.

Officers wanted to speak to the lad in connection with a large number of offences and the 17 year old, who can not be named for legal reasons, was arrested yesterday (Friday 26th April).

12 offences over 6 weeks

The teen was set to appear before Birmingham magistrates this morning facing charges relating to EIGHT burglaries, three attempted burglaries and one car theft.

All the offences took place over the last six weeks in Northfield, Bartley Green and King’s Heath.

West Midlands Police thanked the public for their help in locating the wanted teenager.

On the Birmingham Police Facebook page they wrote: “Following a social media appeal a 17-year-old from Northfield wanted in connection with several burglaries has been arrested.

“Thanks for your support as always.”
