    • I moved out of Rubery a couple of months ago after some 12 years or so. One reason was the rising crime in the area, especially violent crime and anti-social behaviour. And even though there were regular consultation meetings between residents, local councillors and the police very little has improved over the last year or so.

Perhaps the closures and/or limited opening hours of police stations in the area certainly haven’t helped the situation; and now there are talks of residents paying for private security companies to patrol at-risk areas.

A shame that Rubery and Frankley is heading into the abyss a little more each year. It was a nice area – not brilliant – and certainly a more pleasant place to live compared to now.

Am glad I’m out of the area, but it saddens me when I read more and more reports of crime hitting innocent citizens and local businesses.

  1. We too have also just moved out of the area for the same reason. We have lived in the area for 21 years after some thugs came with knives and machetes to take our car thought it was time to move out of Birmingham!
