[WATCH] Thieves threaten to ‘chop’ man with machete in Northfield carjacking

A man was threatened outside his Northfield home by thieves with knives who demanded the keys to his Mercedes yesterday evening (Tuesday 15th January).

The man had just put his car into his garage in Bishops Gate, at just after 7.30pm. After he closed the garage, two men – brandishing a large machete and a hunting knife – ran at him, demanding the keys.

The man tried to get away but the pair chased him and took the keys, saying they would “chop” him if he did not hand them over.

CCTV footage shows one offender entering the garage and getting in to drive the car while the other – brandishing the machete – makes sure the victim stays back.

The pair then made off in the white Mercedes GLA45 registration YB64 FGJ.

The car owner was uninjured but obviously extremely shaken by the incident.

Sadly, this is not his first violent car theft. In 2017, he was threatened by car thieves in his own home for keys to his Ford Focus and Yamaha motorcycle.

He said: “I cannot believe what happened. I feared for my life at the time.”

  1. It looks like the same people who were found around the back of the bungalow in Pamela Road, on Monday evening. They need catching and fast, before someone gets killed.
