An elderly pedestrian who was seriously injured after being in collision with a car in Northfield on Wednesday (2nd January) afternoon has sadly died.
The 78 year old suffered serious injuries when she was hit by a Ford Fiesta as she was on a zebra crossing near to the junctions of Hole Lane and Overbury Road at around 4.55pm.
Her family has paid this tribute to her: “We are truly devastated to have lost a loving, caring mother and grandmother who was also a much-loved figure in the local Greek community.
“We send our heartfelt thanks to all those who tried to help my mother on the day of the collision, and ask that anybody who witnessed the incident to get in contact with the police to help them with their investigation. We also respectfully ask that we are given time and privacy to grieve at what is an extremely difficult time for the family and her friends.”
Sergeant Alan Wood from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family at this tragic time. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting us with our enquiries and we are appealing to anyone who saw what happened to get in touch with us.”
