Don’t be alarmed if you are in the city today and see smoke and fire crews close to Birmingham Children’s Hospital (Tuesday 27th .
The hospital is hosting West Midlands Fire Service crews for a training exercise in the empty former Dental Hospital building on the site.
The exercise begins at 10.30am and is expected to last for around 4 hours.
A spokesperson for Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust said: “As this is a live simulation there will be a number of firefighters in and around our site, along with fire engines.
“You may notice the increased activity, along with synthetic smoke, which poses no harm to our patients and families, being used to imitate conditions.”
The exercise will not affect access to the Children’s Hospital, which will remain fully operational throughout.
