A West Heath man was arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning (Saturday 6th October) on suspicion of burglary.

West Midlands Police officers were called by residents to Bournbrook Road in Selly Oak at just before 1.30am to reports of a man behaving suspiciously.

31 year old Simon Chetwynd was arrested and taken in for questioning in relation to an earlier burglary, in Heath Road, Bournville on 8th September.

On that occasion, a large quantity of cash was stolen by a thief who climbed in through an insecure conservatory window.

Chetwynd will appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on tomorrow (8th October) charged with burglary. He is also charged with assaulting a police officer after it’s alleged he spat at a PC when arrested yesterday.
